Art of Becoming

I’m Raj Dhillon. I moved from California to New York in January 2026 for a career in tech, and somewhere along the way, I found painting.

As an emerging artist, what began as a way to ease the loneliness of living in a big city soon became a source of comfort, expression, and self-discovery. Painting gave me a way to process change, explore parts of myself I hadn’t expressed before, and begin finding my own visual language.

My work explores transition, identity, release, and becoming. My first collection, The Becoming Series, traces that journey — from leaving behind the familiar, to letting go of what no longer serves us, to making space for what comes next.

I’m still discovering where this path will lead. And perhaps that’s what becoming is — allowing ourselves to evolve while finding our way back to who we’ve always been.
